That pain in your neck
Your neck, also called the cervical spine, starts at the base of the skull and contains several vertebrae that support the full weight of your head. The flexibility of this area makes the neck susceptible to pain and injury. Everyday activities that can affect the cervical spine are extended sitting, repetitive movements, accidents, falls, blows to the body or head, normal aging and normal wear and tear.
Why cervical spine pain originates
Common causes of neck pain are injury and accidents such as whiplash from car accidents, and growing older with degenerative disorders such as osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease.
Things like poor posture, obesity, and weak abdominal muscles directly affect the spine. Your chiropractor may conduct a neck adjustment, called cervical manipulation, to improve the spine's mobility and restore range of motion.
